BTE Student Stories

Share

This past spring, students from BTE Ewing and BTE Trenton embarked on an overnight STEM-focused adventure, visiting colleges in New Hampshire, Maine, and New York. They toured Lehman College, Bates College, and Dartmouth College, where they had the chance to meet BTE Trenton Alum, Alma Batista. At Bates College, students explored the Bonner Leader program, which is designed for students with a passion for community service and civic engagement. Students learned about marine biology research at the MDI Biological Laboratory in Maine, a non-profit facility that specializes in aging and body regeneration. Additionally, they learned about environmental sustainability, including practices related to lobster fishing and protecting Maine’s water resources.

Beyond their academic experiences, the students enjoyed a variety of cultural activities, including eating delicious Ethiopian food, taking a Duck Tour in Boston, and most importantly, bonding with their friends—a highlight of the trip for many. This immersive experience combined academics with cultural exposure, further preparing students for success in STEM fields.
