Volunteer Infographic - 339 volunteers in 2023

To celebrate Volunteer Week, we’re taking a look back at everything our Johnson & Johnson employee volunteers accomplished in 2023. Around the world – in Warsaw, Indiana; in Puebla, Mexico; in Bangkok, Thailand; and many more – volunteers supported workshops on financial literacy, taught students about marketing and sales, shared their own career stories into medical research and other STEM2D fields, and, mostly importantly, they showed up again and again and again.

In 2023, 339 volunteers joined 17 sites around the world, contributing nearly 5,000 hours of their time to support students on their pathways to post-secondary education and careers. That’s an average of 15 hours per volunteer. This dedication shows BTE participants that they matter, helping them build their self-confidence and believe in their own aspirations.

Volunteers also share that participating in the program is valuable to them. They report feeling proud, fulfilled, motivated, and connected to their communities. Many volunteers commit to a full year of activities or even all three years of a program, allowing them to build mentoring relationships with students and witness the growth they’re fostering.

J&J employee volunteers feel that volunteering gives them a better understanding of young people in their communities. They believe BTE is a great way to demonstrate J&J’s Credo and a great experience for the students. And they feel their time volunteering has improved their ability to work with others, contributing to their professional development. Many volunteers report gaining skills in communication, teamwork, and leadership.
