Santiago proudly represented his community of Yumbo Colombia as a student ambassador at ABTS 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal. While there he collaborated with an international team of students to create “Elephant Toothpaste,” a chemistry-based STEM2D demonstration, and earned a digital badge in Intercultural Fluency. Here’s what he has to say about his time in BTE:

My Favorite BTE memory is…

La amistad. He podido encontrar amigos inimaginables que me hand enseñado mucho.

My favorite memory of BTE are the friendships I’ve gained.  I have gained friendships that I would not have imagined that have taught me so much.  The friends that I have met in BTE have helped me learn about how to be a leader. I will always remember this.

To me, BTE has meant…

For me, BTE is an opportunity, a great opportunity to demonstrate what I like and what I can do.  At the same time, BTE helped me learn and discover new and marvelous things.  BTE is a door to opportunity, that will open many more doors.

The most important thing I will take away from BTE is…

The most important thing that I learned in BTE is to believe in myself and that I have the power to achieve all of my dreams and goals.

Thanks to my time in BTE and at ABTS, in the future I will…

Thanks to these programs, I want to study more, and I have learned that I have to live with other people regardless of their traits and culture and to learn from them—more than just the tip of the Iceberg, but about their whole world.
