Congratulations to 2020 BTE graduate, Emily!

What are your plans after graduation?

I am planning to go to The College of New Jersey to study Criminology.

What is your favorite BTE memory?

My favorite BTE memory is when we went to volunteer at the men’s shelter and somehow managed to cook the best tasting tacos, serve them, and eat them without causing too much of a mess. Although the tacos were really good, I think the company was way better. Seeing everyone work together was the highlight of my year.

What are you looking forward to the most after graduation?

I look forward to that little in-between stage where we all transition to our respective paths, because those last few moments with friends and family is what I’ll take with me to college and continue to reminisce on as the best moments of my life.

Who would you like to recognize from your BTE journey?

Out of everyone that has helped me along the way, there is one person in particular that I want to thank from the bottom of my heart for not only supporting and guiding me, but also being there as a mother figure for all of us. I would like to thank Mrs. Dent for all that she has done for us crazy group of kids, and honestly for just managing to put up with us! I have many memories from when I went to Portugal with her for ABTS. I can still remember when I first started to get close to her and we were at the airport playing Uno waiting for our plane. I also remember when I lost my passport and she helped me look for it.

From the very beginning of my journey, she has been there by my side making sure everything runs smoothly, which is incredible because she somehow manages to balance all the things on her plate while also taking the time to care for us individually. I truly am grateful for having Mrs. Dent in my life because I would not have been able to finish high school or get into college without her. At the end of the day those are only a few things she has done for us, but there are so many more. I just want to say personally, thank you Mrs. Dent for being our educator, our mentor, our mom, and for looking out for us when we most needed you. Thank you!!
