Johnson & Johnson do Brasil
In March 2022, Johnson & Johnson do Brasil, Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide, JA Brasil, and Fundhas launched a new Bridge to Employment (BTE) program in the São José dos Campos, Brazil community. The three-year BTE-Brazil program targets a total of 45 students from Fundhas.
In this three-year program, young students in São José dos Campos, Sao Paulo are going to build a professional future in STEM2D careers, being prepared to excel in their academic life in secondary school and in their higher education endeavors, thereafter. The program will provide a variety of academic enrichment, career exploration, and higher education preparation opportunities in order to increase in the number of young people completing higher education and pursuing STEM careers. Specific program activities and support will be implemented throughout each program year to ensure students meet the designed yearly short-term outcomes.
Key activities include:
Students will participate in a number of ongoing workshops, and tutorials based on their academic needs, and to help them prepare for their national examinations, particularly STEM tests in ENEM (national test to enter university)
Students will have the opportunity to be mentored by Johnson & Johnson employees, participate in numerous career talks, learn and practice interviewing skills with J&J volunteers, participate in company tours, including J&J Brazil and a number of local manufacturing companies and participate. They will also participate in many career coaching sessions and resume building and foundational skills workshops and learn how to undertake research to learn about even more careers and the academic requirements
Students will visit university campuses and learn about higher education opportunities. They will also take financial literacy courses to help them better understand money management particularly as they go onto higher education. Students will also receive support with university applications
Students will be able to undertake a number of projects which support their development as leaders. In addition to taking advantage of global youth leadership opportunities through the BTE YLC, students will also have the opportunity to mentor and tutor younger students and in turn help them to begin to think about their own future and career interests
By the end of the program (December 2024), the BTE-Brazil program will achieve the following:
80% of BTE participants complete the three-year program
80% of BTE participants are confident in their work-readiness skills and exhibit a professional posture
90% of BTE participants elect to take the ENEM or the Vestibular by 2024
60% of BTE graduates are accepted to a higher education program for 2025
47% of BTE graduates enrolling in higher education plan to pursue a STEM2D degree
100% of BTE graduates enrolling in higher education obtain scholarships or financial support (FIES)
