BTE Student Stories
During the final quarter of 2024, the Bridge to Employment program in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, provided students with valuable college and career exploration experiences.
In October, BTE Atlanta students participated in an all-day open house at Kennesaw State University, where they explored potential majors and career paths, learned about admissions and financial aid, engaged with current students, toured the campus, and experienced dining on campus like an undergraduate student!
November’s activities began with an SAT prep session, followed by a guest speaker from CVS who talked about what career opportunities in pharmacy look like. Students also participated in the university’s Homecoming Scavenger Hunt before touring the Rehabilitation Engineering and Applied Research (REAR) Lab. This hands-on experience allowed students to explore applied research in assistive technology, including wheelchair biomechanics, pressure ulcer prevention, and diagnostic tools for individuals with disabilities.
Finally, in December, students wrapped up their final SAT prep session and had the opportunity to learn about biotechnology from a guest speaker from Atlanta Technical College. They also engaged in mentoring pods, accessed career awareness e-modules, learned about summer opportunities at local universities, and listened to a presentation about the ABTS experience from their peers. The program concluded 2024 with a holiday party, celebrating the students’ hard work and achievements.
Congratulations to our BTE Atlanta students on such a successful first half of Year 2; we look forward to seeing you finish the year strong!
