ABTS 2020 Ambassador
Meet ABTS 2020 Student Ambassador Hadiza Sarr!
BTE Site: Athens, GA, USA
“I am looking forward to meeting new people and learning about their experiences in BTE. I want to extend my knowledge in the program. I hope to extend my BTE family from my local community to a global reach with the help of ABTS.”
I am a 16-year-old Senegalese-American from the Peach State, and I aspire to be a physician assistant in the future. I am an ambivert who likes to have fun, but I also enjoy my alone time, and snuggle up with a good book. I’m very family oriented which makes me supportive, responsible, and devoted. I love all aspects of self-care, including mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional. I used to be short-tempered, but I have been working on my patience so that my temper is short-lived. I prefer to work in teams because my perfectionism can be a bit overwhelming at times when I work alone.
WHERE I’M FROM:
I was born in Senegal, but I have lived in the United States for equally as long as I’ve lived back home (8-8 years). Summers in Athens, GA are hot and sometimes humid. It’s always the perfect weather for a good beach day, but since I don’t live anywhere near the coast, the heat is just oppressive, especially when I have to retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot as a grocery clerk. We do get a few rainy days in the week, and those days are my favorite. I love sitting on my porch to enjoy the smell of the post-rain dewiness and how the colors of fresh cut grass and our blooming crepe myrtles have revived. My community is home to the UGA Bulldogs, it has a great music scene, and is nationally known for its antebellum architecture such as the T.R.R. Cobb House.
