Career coaches help students understand what motivates them, identify examples where they were motivated to make a change, and think about how to apply these lessons in a situation where they hope to motivate others.
Creating a Community Action Project
Students learn the concept of a community action project and create a draft design.
Developing a Business Plan
Students will create a business plan for a successful medical device product launch, such as a blood glucose monitoring sytem or an insulin pump, and present it to the BTE partnership.
Giving Presentations
Students learn and demonstrate high-level presentation skills, including how to present information clearly and compellingly, engage an audience, and project a professional demeanor.
Making a Life Map
Students create a personal credo and life map to use as a graphic organizer for developing a college and career timetable.
Preparing for Informal Interviews
Students interview Johnson & Johnson professionals about their experiences, passions, interests, and higher education pursuits. Ultimately, students understand that a career in health care and science can be rewarding and fulfilling.
Understanding Career Options in the Health Care Field
Students create a mock health care company in order to learn how departments work together and better understand career options.
Working As a Team
Students will learn and practice teamwork skills by working together to make spaghetti bridges—lightweight bridges made of dried pasta.
